2021 has seen a lot of change within the Mobile industry, so as we come out of summer, we thought it would be useful provide an overview on changes which have been made, and changes which are to come
- As of 1st January 2021, surcharge-free roaming when you travel to EU and EEA countries was no longer guaranteed. This included employees of UK companies travelling in the EU for business.
- EE have recently announced that they plan to reintroduce roaming charges from January 2022.
- O2 have made an announcement that they will be implementing a fair usage cap of 25GB and charging for usage above that from August 2021.
- The government has set a legal limit of £45 per monthly billing period for mobile data usage while abroad.
- Users will be unable to continue to use mobile data services when roaming unless they actively choose to continue spending.
- Consumers must also receive alerts when they are at 80% and 100% data usage.
