Merit Homecare

Sirius moves Merit Homecare Service to new premises.

Background

Merit Homecare Services is a family run care provider established in 1996. Operating in Newcastle Upon Tyne and Northumberland, Merit work with local authorities and private clients to deliver high quality care services. In early 2020 Merit Homecare Services were planning an office move and contacted Sirius with their brief, to cable the site, install security and to replace their old telephone system with a modern, cost-effective and integrated business telephony solution, whilst optimising their connectivity and IT set up.

Solution

Sirius visited the new site to survey the existing cabling and to understand the desired layout for staff placement and office space. After a thorough review of the existing infrastructure, a bespoke proposal was made to meet the needs of the business and its staff, which consisted of the following: • To supply & Install 6U cabinet patch panels and mains cabling. With both Single and Double Cat 6 points for staff workstation network points. • To supply & install Long Range UniFi Access Points for improved Wi-Fi coverage throughout the occupied workspace. • To supply and Install door entrance phones, access fobs and CCTV security. • To provide and install a Bonded Broadband connection to improve the bandwidth capabilities for improved work efficiency. • To provide a Hosted VoIP telephony solution, to maximise staff and system efficiency, whilst futureproofing the technology used and allowing for flexible staff working. • Streamlining of Microsoft 365 licensing, email set up, remote monitoring activation and Sophos Endpoint Security deployment. • Streamline maintenance and management through a single point of contact.

The Result

Our bespoke solution has allowed Merit Homecare services to transition to a new office without issue, whilst upgrading and enhancing their communication infrastructure, improving administrative staff efficiency, productivity, and their overall day to day working experience.

Zucchini Pasta Bar

Sirius helps install connectivity in a remotely located restaurant.

Background

Zucchini Pasta Bar are an independent restaurant serving traditional fresh pasta dishes in Newcastle, based at the ’55 Degrees North’ building in the centre of Newcastle, just across from the iconic Tyne Bridge. Due to their location, Zucchini were consistently struggling with another provider to complete a successful connectivity installation. Engineer visits were routinely aborted as adequate information was not passed to attending engineers and Zucchini not updated as to why there were constant failures. The required work was critical for the business to allow the fulfilment of an ever-increasing number of online orders. Sirius then took over the process and ensured step by step the installation of Zucchini’s new connectivity.

Solution

Sirius visited Zucchini and performed a brief survey of the site and ensured adequate explanations were relayed to the installation engineering team. A member of Sirius’ team made themselves available to be present on site at the allotted time to ensure the installation was not an aborted visit, and if there were any issues for these to be relayed directly back to our provisioning team. On the scheduled visit, the attending installation engineer conferred with Sirius and informed of the issues when attempting install in the building – a number of new walls that had been installed which had made it almost impossible to fit a new line in the desired location. After conferring Sirius agreed a plan of action to get Zucchini connected, this was not a routine installation and required further works: • Organised an Openreach surveyor to attend and map points for new installation. • Identified a connection point between Zucchini and an adjoining business. • Arranged a follow up installation visit following survey report. • Kept Zucchini fully up to date during each step of the process. • Ensured a member of Sirius staff was present at the subsequent install to ensure access to the building’s communication area, a successful connection and no issues left unresolved.

The Result

On the day of install Sirius met with the attending Openreach engineer and assisted in gaining access to their building’s communication area. The connection point between Zucchini and the adjoining business was relayed once again and a successful line and broadband installation was complete, allowing the team at Zucchini to receive their online orders more efficiently.
